Pearl E. Sixel, 89, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Jan. 2, 2018. She was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Gardner to Emil and Martha (Keller) Ahlswede. On May 26, 1948, she married Donald R. Sixel Sr. who preceded her in death on October 8, 2014.
Before she was married, Pearl worked at Amity Leather in Sturgeon Bay. After marrying Don, they farmed together in Nasewaupee for many years. Pearl was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church and a past member of the church choir.
Pearl enjoyed music, baking, and feeding the birds on her property. She had a very special place in her heart for all animals.
Survivors include two sons, Don (Betty) Sixel Jr. and Jan (Sue) Sixel, all of Sturgeon Bay; two daughters, Julaine Williams, Janesville; Paula (Dennis) Villers, Sturgeon Bay; 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Justin Sixel; daughter-in-law, Marcia (Malvitz) Sixel; three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Salem Lutheran Church, the Rev. Tod Vertz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
