Obituary: Raymond F. Rutherford

Raymond F. Rutherford, 89, of Fish Creek, died Dec. 20, 2017.  He was born in Denver, where he lived until age 18 when his family moved to Long Beach, Cali.  He attended Long Beach State College before entering the Army.  He served in Korea and Japan as a Company Clerk in support of combat operations.

Upon returning from service he joined his father in owning and operating Rutherford’s Second Hand and Antiques Store in Long Beach.  He met his wife, Eunice Seiler at the Methodist Youth Adult Group.  They were married in Long Beach in 1955.

In 1963, Ray and Eunice decided to move back to Door County. Ray worked at Peterson Ship Builders in Sturgeon Bay as a Purchasing Agent for almost 20 years.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lyndona, brother Don, and sisters Marjorie and Betty.  Survivors include his wife Eunice, brother Ted, a son John, and daughters Melinda (Tom) Logan, and Kathleen (Michael) Sears, and two grand children Sarah Sears and Bryan Logan and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 30 at 11 am at the Ephraim Moravian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Peninsula Music Festival, Gibraltar Historical Association, or the Ephraim Moravian Church. Casperson Funeral Home has assisted the family with the arrangements.
