Obituary: Rita Jean Miller

Rita Jean Miller, 65, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Ministry Door County Medical Center.

She was born July 19, 1950, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Eugene and Helen (Orthober) Miller. Rita graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1968 before attending tech school in Minneapolis, MN, for the airline industry. She worked as a secretary for the FBI for two years before moving back to Door County. Rita was employed with Door County Memorial Hospital for nearly 25 years, working in housekeeping, as a CNA, and later as a distribution clerk.

She had a bubbly personality and always made those around her feel comfortable. Rita enjoyed roller dancing along with listening to the music of the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s. Rita liked dogs (especially collies), making crafts, knitting, crocheting, and watching old movies. Along with her love of cooking Rita especially appreciated a meal of steak and potatoes.

Survivors include her two children, Jennifer (Brian) Struc of Abita Springs, LA (and their children, Andrew and Margaret), Eric (Lori) Breske of Manitowoc (and their children, Gabriel and Landon); brother, Jim (Elizabeth) Miller of Naperville, IL; nieces and nephew, Cindy, Brent (Wendy) Miller, Tricia Miller; and her close friend, Adrian “Addy” (Mike) Gingler of Sturgeon Bay.

A service celebrating Rita’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Dr. Matthew R. Knapp, Sr., officiating.

Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.
