Obituary: Roger P. Nash

July 30, 1938 ~ August 3, 2022

Roger P. Nash, age 84, a resident of Wauwatosa and Clark Lake (Town of Sevastopol), died on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, following a lengthy illness. Roger was born in Two Rivers, WI, on July 30, 1938, to Leona and Jack Nash. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Allan and John, and sister Laurie.

Roger is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Judith “Judy” (nee Propsom); his four children, Paul, Cheryl (Jay) Ellioff, Steven, and Jennifer (Alex) Wesela; his 12 grandchildren, Erika, Daniel, Alaina, and Adam Nash, Kaylin and Magan Ellioff, Amanda, Anne Marie, and Sarah Nash, and Jessica, Jack, and Jamie Strosahl; and five great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Jerry (Barbara) and brother-in-law, John (Julie) Propsom; and many other relatives and friends.

Roger attended school in Two Rivers, Hartford, and Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa East High School in 1956, proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tidewater AD 31, and completed a four year apprenticeship at Kearney & Trecker Corp., West Allis, following his honorable discharge from the Navy. Following K&T, Roger taught Numerical Control Machining at Milwaukee Area Technical College and was so proud of his many students who did so well after graduation.

Roger was a founding member of the USS Tidewater Assoc., loved to play cards monthly with his friends and at the Tosa Senior Center, and fish as much as possible at the family cottage at Clark Lake.  Spending time with Judy and his children and grandchildren, especially at the cottage, was a priority. (Especially trying to catch that big one!)

Roger played football in high school and later played baseball for the St Bernard’s team as well as volleyball in the couples league. He was very involved at St. Bernard’s as a Cub Scout leader, chaired father-son breakfasts, and volunteered at many other parish activities. Roger loved to sing bass and was a member of the chorus in high school and later with the New Horizon Harmony Singers in Milwaukee.

Since he retired, he and Judy enjoyed their winter trips through the south to Florida to visit friends and family. They also traveled to many reunions of the USS Tidewater at various locations and he loved to share memories with old and new shipmates.

The Nash family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Elm Grove Memory Care and Aseracare Hospice for the wonderful, kind care he received. In addition, thank you to the teams at Froedtert Cancer Center and Neurology Department as well as many years of care from Dr. Samuel Idarraga and his staff. God Bless all of you.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 110 N. 5th Ave., Sturgeon Bay with visitation at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:30 p.m., Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. After the burial, a Celebration of Roger’s life will take place beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Stone Harbor.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wauwatosa, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sturgeon Bay, or to the family for a memorial to include the USS Tidewater Assoc., will be appreciated
