Obituary: Roland Keith Grabenkort

October 24, 1939 ~ March 25, 2021

Roland Keith Grabenkort died peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family at the time of passing.
Roland, better known as Rol, R.K., or Sketch to his family and friends, was born in Chicago, IL, on October 24, 1939 to Frederick and Ione (Larsen) Grabenkort. Rol and his family moved around when he was younger, and he spent his younger years learning to hunt, fish and work with his hands. He attended Warren High School in Indiana and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State. He later went on to have a successful career in insurance law and risk management, having the opportunity to travel throughout the US and Canada.
On September 25, 1976, Rol married Susan Stoneall. Together they had one son, Max, who instantly became their world. Rol passed on his love for motorcycles, tools and working with one’s hands to Max, and he instilled in Max the value of hard work.
Rol was a loving father, devoted husband, motorcycle enthusiast, tractor fanatic, and yardwork lover. He loved spending his time with his friends at the Brew, reading books, and having lively debates about just about anything.
Rol will be missed by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Susan; son, Max (Tu-Anh) Grabenkort; and brother, Richard (Beverley) Grabenkort. He was preceded in death by his parents.
