Roswitha was born on October 3, 1934 in Germany to Heinrich and Margarete Mueller.  She immigrated from Germany to the United States when she was 19 years old.  In 1953, she married Josef Burkart at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Chicago.  They retired in Sister Bay and lived there for 22 years before moving to Marshfield after her husband went to heaven.

Roswitha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  She adored her grandson, Martin, and family was everything to her.  Roswitha enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, reading, bird watching, bird feeding and keeping an immaculate house.  She also had an interest in medicine.

She is survived by her daughters, Ingrid (David) McClure of Marshfield and Jutta (Gerald) Field of Highland Park, IL and and Baileys Harbor and grandson, Martin Josef McClure who is serving in the US Navy in Norfolk, VA. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Karl Berg and niece, Claudia Berg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Josef Burkart, brother Manfred, and sister Wilma Berg.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful, loving caregivers and management at Wells Nature View Assisted Living, St. Croix Hospice and Compassus Palliative Care. They would also like to thank St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for their weekly visits.

They are also grateful to the kind and thoughtful caregivers and neighbors who helped look after Rose while she was living in Sister Bay after her husband passed away.  And we thank St. Rosalia Church for their weekly visits.
