Obituary: Roy G. Holmquist

Roy G. Holmquist passed into eternal life on July 11, 2018, at Scandia Village in Sister Bay. Roy was born on December 6, 1929 in Chicago, IL. In Barrington, IL, he owned and operated his own Ceramic Tile business for 50 years.

Roy was the father of 6 children: Jan, Roy Jr., Lon, Guy, Kim, Jon and step-father to: Cindy (deceased), Charlotte, Chuckie, and Curt. Grandfather to: Hillary, Danny, Carrie and Nicholas. Roy adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crawling on the floor with them and playing endlessly. Roy is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In 1986 Roy married Carol (Susie) Stogis. Carol and Roy worked at his Ceramic Tile business together for 20 years. After marrying, they retired and the day after being married moved to Ellison Bay. Roy and Carol loved Door County. Roy especially enjoyed fishing and hunting; loved music. Together Roy and Carol danced Country and Western, even appearing on television while dancing in Nashville, TN. Roy and Carol travelled throughout the USA.

Roy had a great sense of humor. Was quick witted and always had a joke or one-liner at the ready.

In addition to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Roy is survived by his wife, Carol (Susie), Brother, Gene (Ginger), In-laws, Chuck and Joann Herbst, Sister-in-law, Pat Stogis.

Carol (Susie) would like to thank Father David, Becky Nash and the Eucharistic Visitors from Stella Maris Parish for the time they spent with Roy. Grateful thanks to the staff of Scandia Village for taking such good care of Roy during his final years. Also heartfelt thanks to Alma and Carrie for their love and support.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Stella Maris Parish – Sister Bay Site at 11:00 A.M.
