Obituary: Ruth Jane (Rockwell) Smith

July 12, 1930 ~ November 19, 2020

Ruth J. (Rockwell) Smith, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 after a full, blessed life.

She was born July 12, 1930 in Sturgeon Bay to Joseph Rockwell and Edna Belle (Stakeman) Rockwell.

Ruth was a homemaker who also worked at Seville Organ Co. and Hatco in Sturgeon Bay. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos with family and friends. She enjoyed taking care of and being grandma to her granddaughters, Amy and Samantha.

There were certain things you would not phone call Ruth during and they included: Jeopardy, Judge Judy and especially, Wheel of Fortune.  She also loved to read.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jane McGuire of Florida, Terry McGuire of Sturgeon Bay; two granddaughters, Samantha (Delchambre) (Drew) Pennington of Beloit, Amy (Delchambre) (Brian) DeMeuse of Little Suamico; two great-grandchildren, Kjell and Rona Pennington; two sisters, Joan Krueger of Appleton and Dorothy Kintopf of Sturgeon Bay; many dear nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, John McGuire; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae (Walter) Haase and Marion (Al) Ash; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leo (Dode) Rockwell, Jack Rockwell, Gene (Pat) Rockwell, Butch (Janice) Rockwell, and Butch’s first wife, Edna; brother-in-laws, Owen Krueger, James Kintopf.

Private services will be held at Huehns Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bayside Cemetery.  Family and friends may view service at Ruth’s tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com after next Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
