Obituary: Ruth M. York

Ruth M. York (nee Beart) was born January 31, 1920 in Chicago, IL.  She passed peacefully on April 18, 2016,  in Sister Bay, WI. Ruth married Clyde O. York in 1942 and was a dedicated minister’s wife for 41 years in Southport, IN and Cincinnati, OH. – hosting church boards & circles, teaching Sunday school, singing in church choirs.   In those years she also worked at Kemper Insurance, as a Field Worker for Camp Fire Girls (establishing and administering clubs all over Cincinnati), and teacher at Southport Nursery School, Deer Park Elementary and Cincinnati Country Day in Cincinnati, OH. She will be remembered for her deep caring and sincere dedication.Although she and her husband lived in Cincinnati, OH most of their married life, they had enjoyed a cottage in Fish Creek, WI for over fifty years and Ruth lived at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Village of Sister Bay, WI at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Ruth M. York is survived by Rev. Barbara L. Streng (William) of Eagle River, WI.; Kathleen A, Pelletier (Charlie) of Fish Creek, WI.; Rev. Thomas D. York of Cincinnati, OH; Timothy R. York (Jan) of Chilton, WI., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, April 30, 2016, at the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, 5950 Montgomery Road.
