Obituary: Ruth Marie Marth

November 27, 1948 ~ February 2, 2021

Ruth Marie Marth, 72, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Whispering Heights Assisted Living.

She was born November 27, 1948 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Donald Charles and Mildred Hildegard (Herman) Schmitt. Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1965. In 1967, Ruth married William Wayne Stryzewski and they began their family together. Growing up, she waitressed and continued to do so throughout her life for more than 40 years. She was most fond of her waitressing job at the Pudgy Seagull in Sturgeon Bay. Later, she was a self-employed cleaning lady and retired in 2016. She married William Dimmick and had a son together before eventually divorcing. Ruth married Charles James Marth in Las Vegas and remained wed until he preceded her in death. She enjoyed helping with events for the Sturgeon Bay Jaycees and being in the stands during the Sturgeon Bay Clippers ball games. Ruth enjoyed scrapbooking, going to garage sales, and spontaneous shopping excursions.

Ruth will be missed by her children, Sherri (Rick) Brungraber of Egg Harbor, Vicki (Al) Wittenberg of Sturgeon Bay, Billy Jack (Tammi) Stryzewski of Sulfur, Louisiana, and JayDe (Sarah) Dimmick of Chilton; grandchildren, Darryl, John (Raz), Rachel (Robert), Brittany, Erinn (CJ), Keifer, Robert, Austin, Mia, Carly, Bryce, William, Sophia, Dylan, Carson, Gavin, and Everly; great-grandchildren, Kalee, Natalee, Colten, Adrianna, Kedrick, Elijah, Raiden, and Corbyn; brothers, Michael (Joy) Schmitt, Jeff (Cindy) Schmitt, and Richard Schmitt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mildred Schmitt; sister, Barbara Schutte; and husband, Charles James Marth.

In honor of Ruth’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Door County Veteran’s Service Office.
