Obituary: Samuel Kenneth Skippon

July 28, 1960 – Jan. 29, 2020

Samuel Kenneth Skippon, 59, lifelong resident of Sturgeon Bay, died at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay with his family at his side. 

He was born to Kenneth Joseph Skippon and Violet Agnes (Gauger) Skippon. Sam graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the Class of 1978 and went to work in the shipyards for Peterson Builders Inc. (PBI) as a fiberglasser until its closing in 1995. He worked for Nelson Team Ford as a driver and as part of the general staff for years. In recent years, Sam worked with Dennis Hayes. 

Sam loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also liked exploring the county, riding on his ATV. Above all, Sam loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

His love will live on in the hearts of his four children, Ben Skippon of Spokane, Washington, Melissa (Lucas Geary) Skippon, Elijah Skippon, and Hannah Skippon, all of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Skylar, Hunter, Logan, and Charlie (his beloved Yorkie); mother, Violet Skippon of Sturgeon Bay; two sisters, Peggy (Cal) Matzke of Forestville and Diane (Terry) Desotelle of Sturgeon Bay; other relatives; and friends. 

Sam was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Samantha Skippon; grandson, Jeremiah; and other relatives. 

His life will be honored with a memorial service held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 4 pm, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, with Rev. Mark Richards officiating. Visitation will precede, 2-3:55 pm, at the funeral home.
