Obituary: Steven R. Kosmoski

March 12, 1949 ~ February 7, 2022

Steven R. Kosmoski, 72 years of Sturgeon Bay, died Monday, February 7, 2022, while at home with his beloved wife, Carol at his side following a devastatingly fast acting cancer appearing a few weeks ago.

He was born March 12, 1949, in Green Bay, the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Russell) Kosmoski. Steve, aka Kos, graduated from Premontre High School in Green Bay, class of 1967 and continued his studies receiving his Business Administration degree at St. Norbert College. He joined the family business in Green Bay at Kos Lumber on Main Street until 1978. Kos moved to Sturgeon Bay where he worked at Lamperts for 28 years retiring at age 51. Steve had a growing faith and love of his Savior Jesus Christ. Steve and Carol were equipped for ministry at Family Worship Center and then were called into full time Missions with MAPS RV Ministry, and RV Sowers Ministry. He and Carol loved adventure…traveling where they were most needed including providing disaster relief following Hurricane Katrina, church building and various projects throughout the United States, including Alaska and Puerto Rico. The past seven years they ministered to the people of Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Steve was a member of the Association of Pastors in Puerto Penasco. He and Carol built and renovated many churches and homes sharing Christ’s love and sacrifice with everyone, distributing glasses, bibles, clothing, food, cookies and coffee with much love to hundreds. Had a gift of being present to those nearest to him as Christ’s love was evident in him, his joy came through in his smile and a concern for others.

Kos loved to encourage people and was a friend to all. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson, Oliver. Neighborhood kids were always welcome to build birdhouses in the garage. He loved taking people out on his pontoon boat. His motto for life was LIVE GENEROUSLY.

Family includes his wife and best friend of 29 years, Carol; two sons, Jack (Kymarie) Kosmoski (their son, grandson, Oliver), Benjamin (Elijah) Kosmoski of Sturgeon Bay; three siblings, Deirdre Kujawa of Long Island, NY, John (Diana) Kosmoski, Paul (Patrice) Kosmoski both of Green Bay; many dear nieces and nephews.

Steve will be honored by his family and extended church family at the regular Sunday service this week at Family Worship Center in Sturgeon Bay. Family will gather this summer to celebrate his life.

Memorials may be directed in his memory to Family Worship Center, Mexico Ministries.
