Thomas Ikeda, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Baileys Harbor, WI after a prolonged illness.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Akiko U. Ikeda; children, Laurence (Andrea De Coro) Ikeda, Louise Ikeda (Thomas) Lester, Jennifer Ikeda (Michael) Faugust, Mary Susan Ikeda; sister, Kazumi May Takahashi; grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacy, and Mark Ikeda, and Steven Lester; and many friends; and relatives.
Born in California and educated in Japan, Thomas returned to the United States after the war and graduated from Columbia University with a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. He married Akiko in December 1954, and they were active members of the church and community in Westport, CT.
Thomas retired after a 36-year career with Norden Systems, and eventually he and Akiko split time between Westport and Sarasota.
A man of few words, Thomas conveyed his love to his family and friends through his actions and steadfastness. He was an avid bridge player, audiophile, photographer, and sports fan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, 49 Weston Rd., Westport, CT 06880.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Thomas’ name to the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston.
