OBITUARY: Viola Monfils

Viola Monfils, 93, of Brussels, passed away on Nov. 5, 2018.  She was born Nov. 26, 1924 in Gardner to Ernest and Annie (Jeanquart) Euclide.  On April 24, 1945, she married Gerard Monfils in Namur.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2012.

Viola loved making Belgian pies and enjoyed working in her flower garden.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter Rena (Myron) LaLuzerne, Brussels; two sons, Randall (Mary) Monfils and Rodney (Katie) Monfils, all of Brussels; 9 grandchildren:  Lee (Lynn) LaLuzerne, Kim (Shannon) Reynolds, Jason (Virginia) Monfils, Jennifer (Paul) Matte, Jamie (Tony) Marola, Jane (Nick) Alsteen, Jessica (Cory) Gorski, Mandi Monfils, and Adam Monfils; 10 great-grandchildren: Jack and Hazel Monfils, Madelyn and Abigail Matte, Mary and Chloe Marola, Collin, Julianne, and Lilly Alsteen, and Jordy Reynolds; brother Harold Euclide, Brussels, in-laws, Wilmer Monfils, Margaret Monfils, Millie Monfils, and Jean Monfils.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brother John “Jack” Euclide, sister Lucy Guilette and in-laws.

Visitation will be from 3 – 6 pm Friday, Nov. 9, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a prayer service at 6:00 pm.  Visitation will continue  on Saturday from 10 – 11 am at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday with the Rev. Edward Looney officiating.   Burial will be in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.
