Obituary: Wallace “Wally” Volkmann

June 25, 1951~ June 23, 2022

Wallace “Wally” Volkmann,70, of LaCrosse and formerly of Egg Harbor died on June 23, 2022.  He was born on June 25, 1951, to Lester and Marion Volkmann.  In 1969, he graduated from Sevastopol High School and went on to college at University of Wisconsin LaCrosse.  After college he worked in the financial industry with various companies.  In 1980, he moved to the Washington, D.C. Area where he married Linda Buck in 1984.  In 2014, Wally retired and moved back to Wisconsin.

Wally was an avid baseball and sports fan in general.  He enjoyed following the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers along with hunting and playing cards.  He loved spending time with family and friends or spending time alone reading.

He is survived by his wife Linda, Gaithersburg, MD; mother, Marion Volkmann, Egg Harbor; three sisters, Rebecca Volkmann, Tomah; Denise (Paul) Greene, Egg Harbor; Renee Wautier, Racine and a brother, Karl (Robin) Volkmann, Sturgeon Bay; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lester; a brother, Dennis; maternal grandparents’ Wallace and Evelyn Utter and paternal grandparents, Fred and Mildred Volkmann.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Jacksonport, the Rev. Peter Lindemann officiating.  Inurnment will be at Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until time of services.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
