Nov. 15, 1929 – May 10, 2023
Wendell “Lars” Larsen died at the age of 93 at his home in Fish Creek. For the past several years, he had fought serious medical issues following a stroke. He was surrounded by family in the days leading to his death, with his grandson David at his side during his final hours.
Lars was a faithful churchgoer and longtime member of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay, serving in several leadership positions. In his work career, he was a farmer, speech writer and public-relations executive. In his spare time, he enjoyed tennis, woodworking, classical music (especially organ music) and flying his own airplane. In his later years, Lars enjoyed the company of family and friends around the fire, built according to his exact specifications, at his Fish Creek home.
Lars met his future wife, Judy, while they attended college together in Iowa. They were married for 65 years and raised six children: Chris (Karen), David (Celia), Jeanette, Carol (Bryan) and Matthew (Maren). Lars is survived by his wife, Judy; five of his children; and six grandchildren, Cena (Christian), Peter, Will, David, Christian and Mattie.
Lars’s life will be honored during a memorial service in the fall.
Casperson Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Sister Bay is assisting the Larsen family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Lars may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.caspersonfuneralhome.com.
