Obituary: Wendy D. Faik

March 10, 1953 – June 10, 2024

Wendy D. Faik, age 71 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Sturgeon Bay Health Service (formerly the Dorchester).

She was born on March 10, 1953, to the late Adam and Leona (Klessig) Faik in Milwaukee.

Growing up Wendy was one of six children in the home. In 1969, she moved to Sturgeon Bay, with her father and brother John. She worked at the Sunshine House doing assembly work. Wendy attended church services at Prince of Peace church.

Wendy had a large extended family which she dearly loved. She also had many friends at Dorchester Living Center where she lived. She enjoyed living at the Dorchester and one of her favorite things to do was to sing happy birthday over the loud speaker every month for all the residents with birthdays in that month. She also enjoyed the many activities that were offered there.

Being a social butterfly, she was well known in Sturgeon Bay. A fifteen-minute trip to Walmart always ended up being much longer. This was due to the fact she would always run into so many people that wanted to chat with her. Wendy had a great sense of humor, which partially because of her disability no one expected her to have. Her personality, humor, and charming nature defined her, not her disability.

Wendy is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Jones and Jillene Jacobson; nieces and nephews, Kristin (Dan) Nakahara, Michelle (Mark) Zahn, Todd Doxtater, Robb (Mary Beth) Nyman, and Danielle Hurley; and many great nieces and nephews. She is further survived by many friends and other family members.

Wendy is preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Leona; one sister, Edris Polakowski; and two brothers, Harold Jacobson and John Jacobson.

Wendy’s family would like to thank her friends and especially the staff at Sturgeon Bay Health Services for their friendship and care for her over the years.

A gathering of family and friends will be held for Wendy from 2 pm until 4 p.m at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, on Saturday, June 22, 2024
