Obituary: William Charles Eickelberg

September 10, 1942 ~ February 3, 2023

William Charles Eickelberg, 80, of Algoma, died peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Waterfall Health of Algoma.

He was born September 10, 1942 in Algoma, son of the late William John and Elizabeth Margaret (Schmitt) Eickelberg. After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, he attended University of Wisconsin – Stout, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Bill worked as a salesman his entire career until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed sailing, boating, skiing, scuba diving, home improvement projects, mechanics, and volunteering with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Bill will be missed by his four children, Susan (William) Gough of Frisco, TX, David Eickelberg of Sturtevant, WI, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Eickelberg of Combined Locks, WI, and Jennifer (Franco) Arena of Dana Point, CA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary (Steve) Mueller. He will also be missed by many friends, colleagues and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathryn (Paul) Meister.

A memorial service to honor Bill’s life will be held in the summer of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Bill’s name to the Door County Maritime Museum or Door County Medical Center Auxiliary.
