William J. Eckert, 76, of Brussels died at his home. He was born in Fish Creek to Walter and Agnes (Restler) Eckert. On July 9, 1966, he married Patricia Ann Theis at St. Peter’s Church in Lincoln.

When he was young, Bill worked in Milwaukee in various aspects of the construction business. For 49 years, he owned and operated an antique business in Door County. He enjoyed searching for antiques and finding “treasures.” His special interest was refurbishing antique lamps.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Carol Eckert (James Johnson) of Sturgeon Bay, John Eckert of Green Bay, and James (Michelle) Eckert of Suamico; four grandchildren, Zac (girlfriend, Brianna) Eckert, Nic Eckert, Luke Johnson and Christine Eckert; brother Edward (Christine) Eckert of Gilbert, Arizona; and sister-in-law Gerry Eckert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wally; and two sisters, Betty Jean (Armand) Tipler and Mary Ann Wendt.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 11 am, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Visitation will precede, 9-11 am, at the church. Forbes Funeral Home and Cremations is assisting the family. A tribute page is available at forbesfuneralhome.com.

Special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
