OBITUARY: Yvonne Bevry Olson

Yvonne Bevry Olson was born on May 5, 1920 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, daughter of Yngve and Florence Bevry of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She died Aug. 20, 2018 at Anacortes, Washington.

She married Lester W. Olson (1916-1994) in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1994. She married Richard Joslin in 2004 and he survives her.

She was the loving mother of Theodore B. Olson (Lady), Claudia J. Alt, John P. Olson (Susan), Kirstin Cravens (Dee), and Joan Hushahn (Maximilian). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and niece Avery Mistlebauer.

Yvonne was a graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School in 1937, graduate of Marquette University Dental School of Hygiene in 1938, graduate of San Jose State, California in 1964. She also earned an advanced degree in English Literature in 1965-1967, teaching credential and taught english and ESL in Santa Clara County, California and published 3 books (poetry and memories of growing up in Door County).

Member of the Stanford University Dickens Fellowship, Poetry and Writing Groups and long time member of the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church beginning 1948, Ham Radio Operator, N60PG.

Resident of California for 52 years; Anacortes, Washington, 14 years; Beloved resident at Europe Lake in Door County, Wisconsin for over 70 years.

A rennaisance woman, she was a writer, poet, teacher, reader, quilter, naturalist, intellectual, and mentor.

Memorial Service will be held on September 29, 2018 at 10:30 am at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, Ellison Bay. There will be a time of fellowship following the service at the church. Private burial at Ellison Bay Town Cemetery, Ellison Bay.
