Oconto Couple Wins Outstanding Young Farmer Award

Philip and Laura Finger of Oconto earned the Wisconsin Outstanding Young Farmer Award during the 66th annual awards weekend, Jan. 24-26.

Philip is a fifth-generation farmer on the Finger Family Farm, which has been in his family since 1872. When Philip and Laura married, she bought into the farm as well. It currently includes 1,900 crop acres and 540 cows. The Fingers work as a team and complement each other: Philip’s passion is genetics; Laura’s passion is calves.

First runner-up went to Katy Schultz of Fox Lake; second runners-up were Jeremy and Heather Natzke of Green Leaf. Schultz also received the Speak Up for Agriculture Award.
