Zion United Methodist Church will hold a hymn sing on Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm. Zion hymn sings begun in 1993 at the 137-year-old country church; the activity features old-time hymns chosen by the audience. Rev. Don Heeringa, a former Zion pastor, will serve as song leader, with Joan Vahey as accompanist.
Past hymn sings have attracted as many as 146 people from 13 different religious denominations. The community is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
The free-will offering will benefit The Door County Healthy Families program and the Northern Door Child Care Center. Since 2002, Zion’s Hymn Sings have raised more $17,500 for agencies benefiting the local community.
