Olde Ellison Bay Days Highlights Grand View Park

2012 Olde Ellison Bay Days will be held June 22 – 24, and the festival highlights the acquisition of the 16-acre Ellison Bay vista, “The Grand View,” by the Door County Land Trust. The festival theme is “Grand View Forever!” and on June 23 at 4 pm, the “Grand View Scenic Overlook and Park” will be dedicated and opened to the public. After the dedication ceremony, there will be a guided tour of the property.

Trolleys will provide transportation between the parking area at the Liberty Grove Historical Society’s grounds and the festival grounds at Ellison Bay Community Park.

The festival features a pie-baking contest, talent show, a “Slow-Bike Race,” an “Artoramma,” folk music, water golf tournament, an arts and crafts mall, children’s tent, picnic fare, fireworks, parade, street-dancing, a grand raffle; and music by Katie Dahl, Whiskey Ditch, and the Modern Day Drifters.

On June 23, the “Grand Parade” begins at 11 am and the fireworks display begins at dusk.

Openings are still available for floats in the Grand Parade. Three floats will be chosen to receive commemorative award plaques and cash prizes for the categories “Grand View” ($150); “Most Inspirational” ($100); and “Funniest” ($50). Entries are free; if interested call Bob Murray at 920.421.1753 or Kim Shumway at 920.854.4937.
