One Week Left for Door County Humane Society’s Game of Homes Adoption Event

On Dec. 3 the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) kicked off their Game of Homes Holiday Adoption Event. From now until Dec. 23, adoption fees for all cats up to and including eight years of age will be just $20; cats older than eight years are adoptable for any donation amount. All cats are spayed or neutered, have age-appropriate vaccinations, are dewormed, and are microchipped.

“There is only a little over a week left during the Game of Homes adoption event,” said Adoption Coordinator Jen Wotochek. “The past couple weeks have been fast and furious as many folks have come to meet our cats and apply to adopt. It’s always heartwarming to meet so many wonderful people who want to open their homes to a new furry family member, especially during the holidays.”

To play the Game of Homes, interested adopters must be approved through the regular application process. Once submitted, applications typically take two to three days to process. Adoption applications can be filled out in a variety of ways. Go to doorcountyhumanesociety.org and click on the Adopt tab, fill out the form online and submit it directly to DCHS. Applications can be filled out in person during public hours at the shelter, faxed, mailed, or filled out over the phone with a DCHS staff member or volunteer. DCHS encourages applicants to fill out the form completely, tell their references to expect a call from DCHS, and give their veterinarian advanced permission to share information with DCHS.

DCHS is open to the public 12 – 6 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 12 – 4 pm Saturday. DCHS will be closed Dec. 24 & 31.
