Open Call for Art in the Door Contest

Destination Door County has launched its first Art in the Door contest, encouraging local artists to highlight the beauty and feeling that Door County evokes. The winners will each receive a $2,000 payment for the original piece, inclusion in Door County marketing throughout the year, and the opportunity to be included in Destination Door County’s (DDC) artist-focused video series.

As part of the 2023 Feelings creative campaign, which it launched earlier this year, DDC is seeking two-dimensional artwork submissions based on a specific feeling – serenity, tranquil, charmed, enchanted and awe – that Door County inspires. Pieces should capture the essence of the word as illustrated by the landscape, people and ambience of Door County.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 pm on April 23 at DoorCounty.com/artinthedoor. A jury will select eight finalists; then the public will vote to select four winners.

“Door County is filled with such talented artists,” said Julie Gilbert, president/CEO of Destination Door County. “We are so excited to launch this contest and tell the story of our beautiful destination through their art.”
