Open House at The Garden Door

The Door County Master Gardeners Association will hold an open house on July 12, 11 am – 2 pm, at The Garden Door to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this free public garden. This special event will showcase a new paved walkway installed by Yard Works Landscaping that was partially funded through a grant from the Raibrook Foundation, fused glass flowers on the tunnel and a tuned wind chime. Master Gardener volunteers will provide information on the history of the garden, straw bale gardening, edible squash blossoms, pruning tomatoes, impatiens, downy mildew and aids for comfortable gardening. Two wagon tours of the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station will touch on fruit growing in Door County and people are encouraged to bring their cameras to photograph the garden in full bloom. Brats, hot dogs, cheese curds and watermelon will be available.

The Garden Door is located a half-mile north of the intersection of Highways 42 and 57 in Sturgeon Bay. For more information visit dcmga.org or call Vicki Dirst at 920.743.2083.
