Open House at The Garden Door

The Door County Master Gardeners Association plans to hold an open house at The Garden Door on July 11, 11 am – 2 pm. This free public garden is located on Hwy. 42 north of Sturgeon Bay, on the grounds of the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station. New features include a bed for miniature conifers and a copper arbor. There will be programs on inexpensive container gardens, raising monarch butterflies, growing grafted tomatoes and rock gardens. Master Gardener volunteers will provide information on growing small conifers, fragrance in the garden, how to grow potatoes, straw bale gardening, culinary herbs, and fighting slugs. Two wagon tours of the research station will touch on fruit growing in Door County. People are encouraged to bring their cameras to photograph the garden in full bloom. Brats and hot dogs will be available. For further information, visit dcmga.org.
