The public is welcome to the 75th Anniversary Open House Celebration at The Clearing in Ellison Bay on Saturday, September 11 from 1 – 4 pm. Attendees can enjoy The Clearing’s unique landscape while learning of its rich history of learning and the people that make up the organization. The event will feature guided hikes, art demonstrations, live music, and refreshments.

Veteran Clearing instructors, including Roy and Charlotte Lukes, Marion Moran, Beth Coleman, Paul Regnier, and Carolyn Kimbell will lead unique themed hikes, including the Niagara Escarpment, Family & Nature, the Clearing’s Quiet-Side (including the labyrinth), and History. Registration for hikes begins at 1 pm at the Lodge, as space is limited. Visitors are also welcome to take self-guided tours of The Clearing campus. Docents will be available to answer questions.

Artists will be on hand to demonstrate folk art from The Clearing’s curriculum including weaving, watercolor, woodcarving, oils, pastels, wood turning, and more. The recently re-created mural in the Schoolhouse and newly renovated root cellar will be open for viewing.
