Opening, Benefit Show at Edgewood Orchard Galleries

Edgewood Orchard Galleries will host its first reception of the season May 28, 4-7 pm, with refreshments served. Featured artists Leslie Wu, Michelle Zjala Winter and Thomas Skupniewitz will be introduced at 5 pm in the courtyard.

January raku by Thomas Skupniewitz.

The Courtyard Gallery will feature the work of oil painter Wu, who will travel from her home near Seattle to attend the reception. Her ethereal landscapes and nostalgic reflections have a serene, calming effect.

See Winter’s one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces in her case on the main level in the Gallery Barn. Starting with flat sheets of gold, silver or copper, she bends, saws and solders these materials together with semiprecious stones.

Skupniewitz’s contemporary, often colorful pottery pieces and outdoor sculptures will be featured in the main gallery and sculpture garden. Incorporating hand-carved details on his pots, platters and geometric steel sculptures, he’s created a collection of new pieces for this show.

A benefit group show, A Walk in the Woods, is also continuing through June 5, with a portion of all of its sales going to Write On, Door County and Door County Land Trust. The benefit show features work from many of the 150-plus artists represented at Edgewood Orchard Galleries (edgewoodorchard.com), 4140 Peninsula Players Road in Fish Creek.
