Opera Singers to Visit Shepherd of the Bay

On Memorial Day weekend, Shepherd of the Bay will be visited by four singers from Lyric Opera of Chicago: soprano Desirée Hassler, mezzo soprano Pamela Williams, tenor John Concepcion and baritone Michael Cavalieri. On May 24 at 7 pm, the singers will join pianist Judith Jackson in a delightful evening of Opera and Operetta musical masterpieces, from Mozart to Délibes, Offenbach to Gilbert and Sullivan, Bernstein to Lehar, with some surprises along the way.

The program, titled Chicago On Tour: An Evening At the Opera, will present accessible and familiar music from the operatic stage in a very intimate and comfortable setting.

Admission is free, but there will be a freewill offering. There will also be a reception after the event to meet the singers.

The next morning, May 25 at 9 am, the Chicago soloists will join the members of the Kleinen Chor (Little Chorus), Bach Orchestra and Pastor Bruce Foster in an annual Memorial Day Sunday tradition at Shepherd of the Bay. They will worship in the manner of Johann Sebastian Bach and the early Lutheran Church, by centering the service on the music of Bach’s Cantata BWV 38.

Shepherd of the Bay is located at 11836 Highway 42 in Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.2988 or visit shepherdofthebay.org.
