Orchard Country Celebrates Cherry Fest

It will be all things cherry at Orchard Country Winery & Market on Saturday, July 18 at the fifth Annual Summer Harvest Cherry Fest. The festivities begin at 10 am and continue throughout the day with activities for the entire family.

“The Fest is all about celebrating our blessings,” said Carrie Viste, co-manager of Orchard Country. “Last year we experienced a shortage, but there are plenty of cherries to go around this year. And what better way to celebrate summer than with a festival featuring food, fun, and entertainment!”

The cherry festival’s activities will begin with free guided tours conducted every hour and wine tastings throughout the day, including tastes of Door County Sparkle, a carbonated cherry wine that was introduced earlier this summer.

Family-themed activities for the day will include clown face painting and animal balloon art, along with Badger Bouncers. The Door County Trolley will offer tours from 10 – 3 pm and horse-drawn wagon rides will be available from 11 – 3 pm.

A traditional pig roast, as well as cherry brats and hamburgers will be available, as well as fresh-baked items. New Glarus Beer will also be available for tastings.

Cherry-based activities include a cherry pie eating contest, which will be held at both 11 am and 1 pm, and a cherry pit spitting competition at 1:30 pm.

Live music will be performed by Door County’s Bacchus Lotus. The four-member group includes Jeff Radke on bass and guitar, Charlie Eckhardt on keyboard and trumpet, Rick Zoran on guitar, and Matt Bayens on drums.
