Organ-Plus-One

Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church’s pipe organ presents renowned organist Peter Richard Conte with Andrew Ennis, playing flügelhorn. For their premier appearance in Door County on July 27 at 7 pm, this organ-plus-one duo promises a program of brilliant virtuosic playing, humor, and grace – truly an enjoyable evening of superb artistry and entertainment.

Peter Richard Conte is an organist whose great skill and innovative style can be enjoyed by any general audience – not just by other organists and organ buffs. He programs transcriptions (many of them works he has arranged himself) of recognizable audience-favorite pieces. Conte is Grand Court Organist of the world famous Wanamaker Organ at the Macy’s Philadelphia department store. Conte was appointed Grand Court Organist in 1989, and is the fourth person to hold that title since the organ first played in 1911.

Andrew Ennis, a graduate of Rowan University with specialization in music education and trumpet, performs a wide variety of classical literature. He also greatly enjoys playing jazz. In addition to his duties as a music teacher, Ennis acts as the director of Instrumental Music at the Parish of St. Joachim in Bellmawr, NJ, where he is also assistant pianist and organist as well as trumpeter. The recent collaborations of Conte and Ennis have been well received by concert audiences.

A reception after the concert will provide an opportunity to greet the performers and welcome them to Door County. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit future musical events at the church. Shepherd of the Bay is located at 11836 State Hwy 42 in Ellison Bay.
