About Clay on Steele Pottery Studio

Clay on Steele is a community arts center focusing on promoting the ceramic arts by providing instruction and personal space for artistic exploration in clay.

Classes cater to many diverse groups such as 4H, Girl Scouts, special needs, home schoolers, corporate team building, reunions, and multi-generational families and friends. The environment at Clay on Steele is very encouraging, with seven potter’s wheels, and plenty of space for hand building. We tailor classes to fit your needs, from focused tutoring to fun parties. Our staff is ready, willing and able to teach and foster the creative talents of those in and around the community, especially welcoming tourists coming through Kewaunee and Door County!

With a nominal membership fee, artists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in the studio environment Clay on Steele offers. Structured as a co-op, member artists have full access to all the equipment and material, as well as teaching, community and gallery opportunities.

The first Friday night of every month Clay on Steele hosts an open house for the community. There is a pottery wheel throwing demonstration, which tempts both adults and children to get clay on their hands. Refreshments are served, and often there is an extra sale, extra demo, or extra children’s event.

We feature an engaging gallery, selling the beautiful pottery our co-op members produce, at prices far below what you would expect to pay. You are buying directly from local artists who are making the items on site. Think of us for practical bakeware and inspired gifts, and coffee mugs!
