About Washington Island Recreation Center
A gift to the Town of Washington by John and Jane Mosling, the Rec opened in 1988, providing a place for Island residents and visitors to improve health, maintain wellness and promote healing. It also serves as a social center for residents and visitors. The Rec features a 60′ x 32′ indoor pool, whirlpool, locker rooms, full equipped fitness center and multi-purpose community room.
The Rec provides facilities and equipment for fitness classes, personal training, work-outs, swimming, swimming lessons for Island youngsters, physical therapy space and meeting space for Island organizations. The Rec also sponsors family and youth events such as Friday Teen Night, Summer Island Rec Run and Season of Lights.
Since opening in 1988, The Rec has been a valuable resource to Washington Island. Through financial support received from the Washington Island Foundation endowment, the Rec is able to offer high quality facilities and programs to our community at an affordable cost. Annual membership dues are as much as 65 to 75 percent less than other health and fitness centers.
