While you can always explore a trail or lake shore on your own, the calendar is dotted with guided hikes, wildlife tours, bird watching treks, and cross-country skiing meetups. Find a group bicycle ride, a naturalist session, or paddleboard tour and explore Door County’s natural wonders.

  • Fall Harvest Fest at Orchard Country Winery

    Orchard Country Winery & Market will host its 10th annual Fall Harvest Fest on Sept. 27 from 10 am – 5 pm with complimentary tasting of Orchard Country wines, local micro brews and farm market foods.

  • Crossroads Hosts Buckthorn Pull

    The Stonecipher Astronomy Center at Crossroads at Big Creek will soon have a new galaxy themed garden, designed by Barb Henkelmann, featuring flowers like Asters (which comes from the Greek word for “star”), Sunflowers, Moonbeam Coreopsis, Blazing Stars and Stargazer Lilies.

  • Bats!

    2:30 am – I am startled awake by an audible flutter near my head. As I turn on the lights I am horrified to see two small bats in a flying frenzy. I quickly grabbed my iPad and ran in the bathroom, shut the door and Googled “How to get rid of bats in a bedroom.

  • Hiking, Deer, & Botany

    On Sept. 19, join a Ridges naturalist for an evening exploration of the Sanctuary at 7 pm. This relaxing and informative walk highlights the history and unique geology of The Ridges Sanctuary, as well as the many wildflowers that bloom along the trails.

  • Belgian Harvest Celebration

    There will be a Belgian Kermiss on Sept. 21 from 11 am to 4 pm, at the Belgian Heritage Center located at 1255 County Road DK (the former St. Mary of the Snow Church in Namur).

  • Family Programming at Crossroads

    There are a number of programs happening at Crossroads at Big Creek and Heritage Village for this week. On Sept. 13 at 2 pm, the family program “Fossils of Door County” will be offered.

  • Island of Nature: Plum Island slowly opening to public

    Plum Island – as in plumb in the middle of Death’s Door between the main peninsula and Washington Island – is a small island with a big history. And, it is very close to being open to the public on a regular basis.

  • Final Barn Door Flea

    Liberty Grove Historical Society will hold its final Barn Door Flea and Vintage Market of the season on Sept. 13 from 9 am to 3 pm. The event will be held on the historical society museum grounds off Highway 42 just south of Ellison Bay.

  • The Importance of Playing

    This week Crossroads at Big Creek will offer a few different programs all focused on the importance of playing. On Sept. 6 at 10:30 am, “Nature Games” will be offered at the Collins Learning Center.

  • Autumn Fest Fun

    This year’s Baileys Harbor Autumn Fest & Classic Car Show is set for Sept. 26 – 28. There will be a large selection of activities to participate in, some old and some new.

  • Ridges Programs

    What’s better than a ramble through the early fall beauty of the Ridges Sanctuary? Join the Ridges on Sept. 27 at 9 am for a 2.3-mile walk on their scenic trails.

  • Celebrating the Harvest

    Celebrate the upcoming harvest at Parallel 44’s annual Harvest Fest on Sept. 6, 12 – 6 pm. Stop by the winery to sample wines made with grapes grown in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest.
