While you can always explore a trail or lake shore on your own, the calendar is dotted with guided hikes, wildlife tours, bird watching treks, and cross-country skiing meetups. Find a group bicycle ride, a naturalist session, or paddleboard tour and explore Door County’s natural wonders.

  • Birding Programs at the Ridges Sanctuary

    Warblers, shorebirds, raptors and bluebirds are just a few of the species to be seen at The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor as they continue the regular schedule of bird hikes and programs.

  • Door County Kayak Tours Lead Night Paddle for Fyr Bal

    Door County Kayak Tours are leading a night kayak tour for the 48th Annual Fyr Bal Festival on June 16. Kayak guides will take kayakers for a paddle on the bay to watch the sunset, lighting ceremonies of the bonfires and fireworks.

  • Trolleys and Limnologists at Crossroads at Big Creek

    The Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay will host various programs throughout early June. On June 10 the Crossroads Cross-Generational Program, “Take the Trolley to Monarch Trail” will be held at 12:45 pm.

  • Sail Aboard the “Denis Sullivan” this Summer

    The summer of 2012 will offer both residents and visitors to Door County multiple opportunities to actually sail aboard the tall-ship Denis Sullivan. Cruises will range from a two-day sailing adventure around the Door Peninsula to three-hour trips down the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal and into the deep blue waters of Lake Michigan.

  • Jacksonport Celebrates 40 Years of Maifest

    Since 1973, Jacksonport has hosted Door County’s unofficial summer kickoff festival at Lakeside Park – Maifest. This year’s 40th annual Maifest celebration will take place May 26 and 27 throughout Jacksonport.

    Registration is now open for summer children’s programs at The Ridges Sanctuary of Baileys Harbor.

  • Nature Hike at Crossroads at Big Creek

    Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay will hold a Nature Hike on May 27 at 1 pm. A naturalist will guide the hike, and point out flora and fauna of interest.

  • Gibraltar Historical Association Announce Heritage Days Activities

    The Gibraltar Historical Association of Fish Creek announces Heritage Days will be held from June 7 – 9 and is themed “Honoring the Past through Textiles and Fibers.

  • Ephraim Yacht Club’s Adult Course Offerings

    The Ephraim Yacht Club (EYC) is offering beginner adult sailing lessons in several formats. “As one of the largest sailing schools in the Midwest, we teach over 200 juniors how to sail every summer at the EYC,” said EYC Commodore Jay Lott.

  • Door Peninsula Astronomical Society Meets for Transit of Venus

    The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will meet at George Pinney (formerly Old Stone Quarry) Park in Sturgeon Bay at 5 pm on June 5. Telescopes with solar filters and solar viewing glasses will be provided to watch the Transit of Venus.

  • Baileys Harbor Hosts 12th Annual Scottie Rally

    It’s Scottie time once again and those bagpipes will soon be beckoning everyone who loves a dog parade to Baileys Harbor! Over 110 Scottish Terriers from eleven states will be arriving in Baileys Harbor for the 12th Annual Door County Scottie Rally on May 19.

    For many children, their first airplane ride can be an inspiration; or at least, that’s what the Friends of Ephraim/Gibraltar Airport are hoping. That’s why on May 19 the airport will host EAA Young Eagles Aviation Day, encouraging kids to learn about and take their first steps in the field of aviation.

  • Festival of Nature Registration Still Open

    It’s not too late to register for Door County Festival of Nature events and trips, but registration will close soon. One of the trips is “Exploring Wildflowers, Birds and Conservation” on May 18 and 19.

  • Peninsula State Park Mid-May Programming

    Peninsula Park will host a variety of programs in mid-May. A Warblers 101 program will be offered on May 12 from 9 – 9:45 am to learn about warblers, small songbirds that migrate through and nest at Peninsula State Park.

  • Volunteer Opportunities at Crossroads at Big Creek

    Crossroads at Big Creek has many upcoming opportunities to volunteer. On May 12 at 9 am, volunteers can take part in the United Way Day of Caring at the Collins Learning Center, the Astronomy Campus, or The Historical Village at Crossroads.
