    The Red Putter in Ephraim is announcing its first ever Frostbite Open to be held on New Year’s Day at 2 pm. The miniature golf tournament will cost $25 per person and include two rounds of golf.

  • Jacksonport’s 25th Annual Polar Bear Plunge

    January 1, 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the Jacksonport Polar Bear Club Plunge – an event in which hundreds of daredevils celebrate New Year’s Day by charging into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan at high noon.

  • Ridges Hosts Two Volunteer Bird Counts

    The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor will coordinate two local bird counts, the Ephraim and Northern Door Counts, which are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 18.

    The Crossroads at Big Creek will continue its educational programs into the winter. On Saturday, Dec. 11 at 1 pm and Sunday, Dec. 12 at 11 am, the public is welcome to “Hike to the Evergreen Forest.

    Wisconsin State Park vehicle stickers went on sale Wednesday, Dec. 1. The sticker is valid at all state parks and trails through the 2011 calendar year.

    The Winter Queen will be visiting the Peninsula State Park Nature Center on Tuesday, Dec. 28 to share snowy stories at 11 am. This program is free and open to the public, but a state vehicle sticker is required.

    The 2012 Wisconsin State Park Sticker Design contest has begun. Entries for the contest are being accepted now through March 29, 2011. The winning design will be printed on state park and forest annual vehicle admission stickers and displayed on more than 150,000 vehicles.
