Overheard and Shout Outs: April 7, 2017

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“If every state were shaped like a mitten it’d be easier.”

“All the best people come from west Jacksonport!”

“And then, someone stole my sea monkeys.”

“Did you know they have coupons at Walmart?”

“You’re a tight knitter, did you know that?!”

“Only 75 percent of the world is loveable.”

“Soccer is for foreigners and children.”

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

A shoutout to the volunteer pianists who accompany student instrumental soloists at district competitions around the state. Their efforts greatly enhance students’ performances. Some played as many as 30 accompaniments in a single day! Students, parents and the Wisconsin School Music Association owe them a huge debt of gratitude! – Mary Ann Blahnik

First-time candidates standing for election to local school, village and town boards and city councils and to the incumbents who have served long and well in these often thankless offices! – Mary Ann Blahnik

To Lisa Seaquist for making working at Seaquist Orchards fun! – Robin Seaquist

A shoutout to anyone who has ever picked up a piece of trash outside that wasn’t yours. – Tree Hugger
