Overheard and Shout Outs: March 18, 2016

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“There are so many people who could be improved with a bit of mace!”

“Uh oh…I think I just went colorblind.”

“You’re getting to your ‘rebel against the elders’ phase kind of late.”

“Be still my beating heart…butter!”

“How do you spell ‘Bieber?’ Is it I before E except after B?”

“Why can’t we have President Gump instead of President Trump?”

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

On March 3, 2,635 cases of Girl Scout cookies arrived in Door County. That’s almost 32,000 boxes of cookies! Many, many thanks to the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department for generously allowing us to use the station to distribute all those cookies to troop leaders. A special shout-out to Asst. Fire Chief Kalin Montevideo and the other firefighters who helped with unloading the truck and made the process go so smoothly. Your support of Girl Scouting was much appreciated! ~ Karen Newbern, Door Co. Cookie Manager

A pat on the back to the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and the participants of last weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day parade for such an entertaining and family-friendly event.

A shout-out to the individuals and groups tirelessly fighting for clean drinking water in Door and Kewaunee counties.

A pat on the back to the League of Women Voters of Door County for their part in engaging citizens in the election process by hosting candidate forums and visiting Door County schools to get students ready to vote. We appreciate your service!
