Overheards & Shoutouts: Jan. 12, 2018

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“You ever just really like the way you smell?”

“I can smell your urgency.”

“If you put a quarter in something, don’t expect fairness.”

“Are you wearing perfume, or is that the poncho?

“You can’t growl and swallow at the same time.”

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

Shoutout to Gretchen Schmelzer, of the Friends of Crossroads at Big Creek, for braving frigid temps to take me on an afternoon cross-country ski excursion at Crossroads last week. I had a blast! – Alyssa Skiba

Big thank you to Dr. Jim Johnson for taking care of animals in Door County. Enjoy your retirement!

A pat on the back to the Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Mining for hearing testimony from the Pulse on Assembly Bill 731, and to Rep. Joel Kitchens for writing the bill regarding newspapers and legal notices.

God bless Door County Secret Santa and thank you for all you’ve done.  – Ruby Demmin

A slap on the wrist to people who abandon their broken sleds and deflated tubes at the bottom of Hill 17 in Peninsula State Park, leaving them for someone else to clean up. Shame on you!
