Packers’ CEO Mark Murphy Headlines DCEDC Awards

Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy will be the keynote speaker at the Door County Economic Development Corporation’s (DCEDC) annual awards luncheon April 25.

Murphy guided the Packers organization back to elite status after taking over the position in 2008, including a victory in Super Bowl XLV. He will deliver the keynote address at the Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center, which will include the announcement of DCEDC’s Entrepreneur and Industry of the Year Awards, as well as the presentation of the organization’s annual report.

Murphy will present on “Building and Sustaining a Winning Tradition.” Under his leadership the Packers organization has continued to grow off the field as well as on, with major stadium and business expansions in the works.

Murphy holds a law degree and an M.B.A. in finance and played eight years in the National Football League with the Washington professional football team. Later, he served a combined 16 years as director of athletics at Colgate University and Northwestern University, and was an assistant executive director of the NFL Players Association and a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.

In addition to his playing career and work with the NFL Players Association, Murphy served on the Commissioner’s Player Advisory Committee (1994 – 2002) and the NFL Youth Football Committee (2002 – present). He won Super Bowl titles as a player with the Washington professional football team in 1982 and as Packers CEO in 2010, believed to be the first such occurrence in league history.

The investors meeting starts at 12 pm. Tickets for the luncheon are $30 per person or $280 for a table of 10. Tickets are available by visiting the DCEDC office. Call 920.743.3113 or by email at [email protected] for more information.
