Packers Will Tee Up for Boys and Girls Club

After a one-year hiatus, former Green Bay Packers and fellow supporters of the Boys and Girls Club of Door County will tee it up next week for a good cause.

The golf outing at Horseshoe Bay serves as the organization’s major fundraiser, and event promoter Dave Resch said golfers quickly reserved all 144 tee times weeks ago. He also said he believed nongolfers bought all the remaining dinner tickets by June 8.

Some of the former Packers make the outing part of their summer routine. Resch said he expected Hall of Fame lineman Jerry Kramer to travel to Door County from Boise, Idaho; former tight end Paul Coffman to come from Kansas City; and Dave Robinson to make the trip from Akron, Ohio.

Despite last year’s pandemic-driven event cancellation, hardly anyone asked for a refund, so Resch said the fundraiser still had a banner year in 2020. Through its 11 years, the event has raised $920,000 to help pay operational costs for the Boys and Girls Club. Resch said this year’s $135,000 goal seems attainable.
