Paper Birds Performs at Fishstock

Door County favorites Katie Dahl, Rich Higdon, Claudia Russell and Bruce Kaplan join together July 10 to form Paper Birds at the Fishstock Concert Series in Fish Creek. The show starts at 7 pm.

Door County is blessed to call Dahl a resident. A gem of a songwriter with a crystal-clear voice, she brings to the stage an intimacy and simplicity that belies her depth. Higdon is a musical virtuoso on everything from dirty dishes to the kitchen sink. If you haven’t heard him play the spoons, you haven’t heard anyone play the spoons!

Claudia Russell is another jewel in this crown. She hails from Berkeley, California but has deep Door County roots. Both Russell and Dahl are known for their work with American Folklore Theater (now Northern Sky Theater). But beyond that, the shows at Fishstock, the house concerts, the concerts at Door Community Auditorium and numerous other appearances have served to make them permanent treasures.

Russell shares the stage with her husband Bruce Kaplan. Her lilting voice and remarkable writing talents will delight in her solo works and weave intricate harmonies with her personally involved duets.
