Parallel 44 Earns Best Wisconsin Wine Award

The Best Wisconsin Wine named at the Wisconsin Professional Wine Competition, hosted by the Wisconsin State Fair, was La Crescent from Kewaunee’s Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery. La Crescent was also named Best White. Parallel 44 also took home the Only Double Gold award for its Petite Pearl, which was named Best Red. Adding to the award haul was Best Sparkling Wine for Bubbler from Parallel 44’s sister winery, Door 44, in Door County.

Steve Johnson, who co-owns Parallel 44 and Door 44 with wife Maria Milano, pointed out that all 24 wines they entered received medals – 16 for Parallel 44 and eight for Door 44. It was the best showing for any winery in the competition.

“Of all the awards, Best Wisconsin Wine means the most to me,” said Johnson. “It’s the inherent chemistry of the La Crescent grape, with its balance of acidic and aromatics, that makes it so special.”
