Parallel 44 Opens Door County Winery – Door 44

Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery will open a second location on the outskirts of Sturgeon Bay just in time for the start of the summer. It will be called Door 44 Winery and, interestingly, this second winery is also on the 44th parallel, the northern latitude that inspired the original winery’s name and is shared by the storied wine regions of Bordeaux, France and Tuscany, Italy, with one big difference – the vines at Parallel 44 endure sub-zero temperatures.

Door 44 Winery will share the same winemaker as Parallel 44, co-owner Steve Johnson, who has created wines especially for the new winery that will be sold exclusively on site.

Door 44 will specialize in wines made from grapes grown in Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. “Since we started eight years ago, we’ve never wavered from our vision of producing high quality wines that are uniquely local from the ground to the glass and that reflect a flavor and style not easily reproducible anywhere else,” said Johnson. “Knowing the story behind the wine means a lot to those who enjoy wine.”

Door 44, located at 4020 Highway 42/57, will be open seven days a week starting June 7. For more information visit Parallel44.com.
