Parallel 44 Wins Award

Ever since introducing their first sparkling wine earlier this summer, the owners of Door 44 Winery and Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery have been on a mission to get wine drinkers to be less set on sparkling wine for its celebratory characteristics and more open to enjoying it as an everyday drink.

With the news that their “Bubbler” sparkling wine was just awarded Best of Show in the Specialty, Sparkling or Fortified Wine category at the sixth annual International Cold Climate Wine Competition, husband-and-wife owners Steve Johnson and Maria Milano can be forgiven if they temporarily shift the emphasis back to celebration. The sister wineries not only took home the most awards of any Wisconsin winery (14), they also took home the most awards of any winery in the competition.

The competition, held at the University of Minnesota, included nearly 300 wines from 59 commercial wineries in 11 states. These latest awards come on the heels of Parallel 44 Vineyard and Winery taking home the award for Best Wisconsin Wine and Best White for its La Crescent at the annual Wisconsin Professional Wine Competition.
