Participation Advised

The Door County Folk Festival (DCFF), this year scheduled for July 9 to 13, presents a fun-filled, educational dance/music weekend that attracts hundreds of participants from around the U.S., Canada and beyond. DCFF offers an extended weekend of dancing, singing, learning, networking, eating, partying and making friends at events in Baileys Harbor, Sister Bay and Ephraim.

This festival is unique in that most events are designed for audience participation – learning and doing heritage dances and songs of America’s diverse ethnic groups. Workshop schedules include opportunities to learn traditional American contra and square dances as well as a variety of ethnic folk dances and songs. The festival also offers workshops designed for those with little or no experience as well as sessions for those with intermediate and advanced skills. This year’s festival features guest instructor, Yves Moreau (Montreal, Quebec) who has been invited to share his knowledge about Bulgarian dance and culture.

The festival also offers four free sessions of outdoor youth activities, a potluck picnic dinner and a traditional Door County fish boil dinner. Best of all, there are ethnic dance parties every night.

All events are open to the public. Participants may register in advance or at the door. To see a complete schedule of events visit dcff.net.
