Partnerships in Art

“Summer 2009” by Sherry Mutchler.

The Meadows Art Gallery show in May has three parts.

The first part is the Wallace Poetry Group, a group of writers and artists who have been working together for a very long time to produce images with words. Their written art is made by more than 20 poets and is a large part of the quality art on display. Their part of the May show is called “Wild” – poems that were inspired by each artist’s reaction to photographs of wildlife.

The second part consists of two Door County painters, Lee Jones and Nancy Burlend. These artists worked together and studied together in Door County for a long time.

Two working artists are also included in the exhibit, husband and wife Keith and Sherry Mutchler. They have individual directions and statements, but they each bring intensity to their pieces. Sherry works in watercolor, while her husband does sculptural concepts with clay.

The Meadows Art Gallery, open 9 am – 5 pm daily, is located Scandia Village in Sister Bay. The exhibit will be up through May, with a reception on May 10, 5 to 7 pm.
