PAS Guenzel Gallery Hosts 3rd Annual We LOVE Winter Exhibit

Peninsula Art School will host an exhibit of children’s artwork beginning January 21 and continuing through March 8. Everyone is invited to join in creating this winter wonderland in the Guenzel Gallery. The exhibit features murals on the walls, winter animals and a Snow Queen to preside over it all. Drop by the Guenzel Gallery to help paint and finish the masterpiece.

Many local schools and groups will be involved in the ongoing construction of the exhibit, including Sally Bahrke’s Middle School classes from Gibraltar. The Gibraltar students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades have been constructing a Snow Queen for several weeks. In the process they have learned some valuable skills for sculpting with plaster and fabric, in addition to all the fun of decorating and designing the perfect winter wear.

Many school groups are scheduled to add to the gallery exhibit over the next few weeks. What will begin as a thinly sketched mural, will take on all the colors of winter, and depict scenes from the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Students will be invited to add to the paintings on the walls, as well as work with paper mache to create various winter animals. A bulky polar bear and flock of penguins are already under construction.

In addition to the gallery exhibition, several winter activities have been planned to take place in conjunction with the exhibit in the Guenzel Gallery:
