Paul Burton: Are We Still Subject to Natural Selection?

Are humans still subject to natural selection? The answer is an emphatic yes. Man has rapidly evolved during the past 30,000 years. Some examples of evolutionary change: body size, smaller jaws, straight black hair, blue eyes, lactose tolerance, and earlier puberty. Hundreds of new gene variations have been catalogued that reflect recent evolutionary changes. The bottom line: Darwin still rules. (J. Hawks, in Scientific American, Sept., 2014; other sources)
